Cozy, Nurturing Evening, Nov. 5, 2007

The family and the home is God's design for living and learning; it will work if we learn the lifestyle. Although at times we may wish it were not so, children learn best by watching us! Every moment is an opportunity to pass something along. If they see us pursing our interests in a learning lifestyle, they will likely follow suit.

There is nothing like seeing your children light up when exploring what they love together, enjoying each other's company, without coercing/prompting. Having a living book on hand is like finding precious treasure!

Homeschooling is a gift for mothers as much as for our children. It is not burdensome but life-giving and nurturing. We are not to mimic a worldly system that is rote, boring, and soul-killing. We love the freedom of being at an organic, living, changing, nurturing place--we called HOME. It is where we experience joy, peace, growth, and above all, real love--for Him and for one another. What a blessing, priceless gift!

True learning-learning that is permanent and useful, that leads to intelligent action and further learning, can arise only out of the experience, interest, and concerns of the learner.
