I can be at the mercy of the river if I don't take deliberate, conscious action to steer myself in a direction I have predetermined.
If I don't plant the mental and physiological seeds of the results I want, weeds will grow automatically.
If I don't consciously direct my own mind and state, my environment may produce undesirable haphazard state.
The result can be disastrous. Thus it's critical that--on a daily basis--I stand guard at the door of my mind that I know how I am consistently representing things to myself. I must daily weed my garden (or simply hang out at the river!)
Research has shown people live longer when they are surrounded by people they love. We are beings that thrive in community. It is not healthy to deny ourselves human contact. For people that live alone, even a pet has been shown to increase the life span for as much as 5 to 7 years. Those of us blessed with family have been given a gift. They can join us in time of celebration and also in times of tragedy. Having a family to support me as I go through life is of monumental importance. Treasure time...NOW.

After a mostly mild winter, telltale signs of springtime rebirth are seen noticeably...migratory birds returning, trees beginning to bud, crocuses peeking through the last of winter's snow, a few extra minutes of daylight. There is definitely a change in how I feel and even in how I dress.
